NAUMD sent a delegation of representatives to London last month for the Professional Clothing Industry Association Worldwide (PCIAW®) annual summit. NAUMD Chair Phil Newman, Cobmex's Jon Edberg and Kathy and Steve Zalkin traveled across the pond to pursue common interests, networking opportunities, grow business and promote each other’s programs to membership.

Not familiar with PCIAW summits? Here's this year's recap:

Summit 2019 brought together a cross section of the European uniform and professional clothing supply chain with representatives from the corporate wear, workwear, and protective product and equipment market segments. Presenters at the day-long event included Karen Sparrow, Spaceline apparel manager, Virgin Galactic, who discussed how Under Armour and Virgin Galactic partner to create technical apparel and footwear for a new age of space exploration; and Dan Murray, commercial director, SEDEX, who emphasized why an ethical supply is key to any winning business strategy.

NAUMD's Steve Zalkin, president, shared insights into trends affecting the current North American uniform landscape. Steve focused his remarks on the importance of creating programs that reinforce a company's brand, image and culture and used photographs from the Image of the Year Award® and Best Dressed Public Safety Award® programs to illustrate his point.

The following evening, attendees celebrated the innovation and designs of the professional clothing industry at the 10th Anniversary Gala dinner. The event was capped off with recognition of Sugdens Career and Workwear Company’s 150th anniversary.
