NAUMD Delivers Relief to Postal Employees Affected by Hurricanes, California Wildfires

Members donate uniforms to letter carriers who lost everything in natural disasters

Omaha, NE, December 3 – It's the season of giving, and members of the North American Association of Uniform Manufacturers and Distributors (NAUMD) are doing their part to help those in need.

Member suppliers of postal uniforms recently donated shirts, trousers, jackets and other items to aid those affected by the recent string of national disasters in the Carolinas, Florida and California. To date, seven suppliers have contributed apparel that will outfit over 32 postal employees. They are: Galls; Elbeco; Fechheimer; R&R Group; Brookfield Uniforms; US Uniforms; and A+ Career Apparel.

The relief effort is being spearheaded by the postal service's union, the National Association of Letter Carriers (NALC). NAUMD and NALC have a long history of working together on matters affecting the postal uniform program, collaborating on efforts to update uniform design, improve functionality and facilitate better access to information.

“Letter carriers often bring vital supplies or documents—and a reminder that life will be normal again—to customers hit by a storm, flood or fire, but they can also be victims of such events, as the recent tragedies remind us,” Steve Zalkin, NAUMD president said.

The North American Association of Uniform Manufacturers & Distributors (NAUMD) has served as the voice of the uniform and image apparel industries since 1933. Its 500+ members include manufacturers, designers, producers, and retailers of uniforms, as well as those who produce products and services for the industry at large.

The NAUMD works to protect the interests of its members through a series of advocacy, education, and public relations campaigns intended to arm them with the tools needed to retain and capture business in a global economy. The association has authored a number of position papers and has an extensive library of information from which members can further their understanding of the uniform marketplace. NAUMD also hosts an annual convention and trade show where attendees can source products, learn about trends, and gain practical, take-home knowledge to better run their business.
