The Defense Logistics Agency (DLA) just released two requests for information (RFI) for dress clothing – specifically for dress coats and dress trousers that could have important implications for the U.S textile and apparel manufacturing industry and its relation to the Berry Amendment.

While the requests seem routine, NAUMD and allied groups are concerned that the opponents of the Berry Amendment could interpret a lackluster response to an RFI as an opportunity to water down the statutory requirement. Even if you have never supplied product to DLA in the past, we urge you to submit information under this RFI if you have any capability as a U.S. component manufacturer or as a U.S. cut & sew operator in the fields in question.

Responses to these RFIs must be sent to Karen Bradley, Contracting Officer, at [email protected] and to Daniel Engelberg, Contract Specialist, at [email protected] by the response date in this notice and should include company name, CAGE code, company size/profile, any other supportive information and answers for which you are potentially interested in supplying/supporting.

Deadline to respond: Friday, July 17, 3:00 pm.

Links to seven documents appear below. For each RFI you will find the RFI itself, a list of items broken out by service (Excel), and the market survey that must be submitted if you respond to these RFIs (Word). There's also a prepared a list of upcoming procurement opportunities (PDF).

Please note that these are only RFI’s, not actual solicitations of proposals.

Please feel free to forward this information to anybody in the textile and apparel supply chain who you think is in a position to respond.
