NAUMD
Mourns the passing of Babe Small
Babe Small, wife
of NAUMD Founding Member Horace Small, passed away on
July 16th and will be much missed.
Estelle "Babe" Small, Loving mother, grandmother and
great-grandmother, passed away July 16, 2008. Preceded
in death by her husband, Horace. Survived by sons,
Richard Small (Rhonda), Jimmy Small (Beverly);
grandchildren, Heather Gilbert (Randall), Kevin Small,
Doug Small (Bonnie), Roger Small (Audrey), David Small
(Robin), Linda Small Gluck (Joel); and 13
great-grandchildren.
She married in 1924 to Horace, a
native of Nashville and head of Uniform Dealer Horace
Small Uniforms. Upon arrival to Nashville, Babe
immediately became interested in being a part of the
community, was active in many organizations, and served
on numerous boards. During WWII, she joined the
Gray Ladies and was a dedicated volunteer, and received
numerous awards for her efforts. As her two sons began
to grow, Babe took a particular interest in Temple Youth
Work, and was instrumental in the formation of the KY/TN
Federation of Temple Youth. Babe and her husband Horace
formed two special funds at Temple:
The Horace and Estelle Small
Campership Fund and The Estelle Small Post
Confirmation Fund. Donations may be sent to either
of these funds at Temple, 5015 Harding Rd., Nashville,
TN. Also, donations can be made to Congregation Micah,
Rabbi's Flip and Laurie Rice Discretionary Fund.

in Boston!

show our appreciation for the support of NAUMD Members
and our Postal Uniform Program Customers during the NALC
Convention in Boston, July 17th!

(NEW YORK, NY) April 10, 2008 – The North-American
Association of Uniform Manufacturers & Distributors (NAUMD)
today announced the election of its Board of Directors
and Officers for 2008-09. In voting by the NAUMD
Membership, the continuing Executive Committee included:
Roger Heldman, Blumenthal Uniform Company elected to
a two-year term as Chairman along with Two year
terms for, Vice Chairman, Steve Zalkin,
Alamar Uniforms Company, Steve Robinson, Liberty
Uniform Manufacturing Co., Inc., Treasurer and
Jim Tewmey, VF Imagewear, Inc. as Member at Large.
Richard J. Lerman, NAUMD’s President, was
elected Secretary and Ron Pate, Unison Marketing
Group, Inc. continues on both the Executive
Committee and Board of Directors as Immediate Past
Chairman.

Postal Program Update

NAUMD's Postal
Committee presented an excellent Town Hall Meeting
in Nashville as part of the 2008 Convention & Exposition
in Nashville. Members had an opportunity to ask
questions about various new items to be included in the
US Postal Service Uniform Program as well as transaction
process rules, license issues and much more. In
addition, the USPS/NAUMD Postal Committee met to discuss
a number of issues regarding the Uniform Program and
issues facing the Distribution and Sale of items within
the program. The Committee also worked on fabric
replacements, items to be presented for sale and general
procedural issues.
All members in
good standing who have also provided a Postal Assessment
are eligible for participation on the USPS/NAUMD Postal

(NEW YORK, NY) April 10, 2008 – The North-American
Association of Uniform Manufacturers & Distributors (NAUMD)
today released an address by President Richard J. Lerman
in which he outlined the many virtues of both the
Uniform Industry and the Association. In comments made
during the Welcome Breakfast at the NAUMD 2008 “Winning
Strategic Alliances” Convention & Exposition at the
Gaylord Opryland Hotel, Nashville, Tennessee, Mr. Lerman
stressed the services provided to and used by all in our
society.
“NAUMD
& Uniform Industry succeeds in serving society because
of the vitally important strategic alliances forged by
all who are engaged in the creation, manufacture and
distribution of the clothes North-American workers wear
to promote professionalism, respect and security.” Mr.
Lerman said.
And
he continued….”The
uniform industry remains the last bastion of true
strategic alliances in all of North America! Here at the
NAUMD Convention, business relationships are nurtured,
created and enhanced. Our focus is simple: bring people
engaged in ALL aspects of the uniform design, creation,
manufacture and sales process together on behalf of
their important customers!
Indeed, NAUMD
members touch the lives of all who live and work in
North America -from the Police, Fire Fighters, Medical
Staff, TSA agents who check you in at the airport, to
the fine front desk staff of your hotel - uniforms in
all forms are a vital tool of those who help you in so
many ways! It is our obligation therefore to serve
proudly those who cannot do what they do without us. As
leaders and industry innovators, it is incumbent upon us
to see to the needs of and desires of all our members'
customers without whom society could not function!

During a recent
visit to Capitol Hill NAUMD's President Richard Lerman
met with Congressman Scott Garrett, Senator Robert
Menendez and Congressman Israel among others to begin to
build recognition of the Uniform Industry and its issues
with elected officials. Among the issues discussed were
Association Health Care, American Made Products
safeguarding and SBA loan issues.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Tuesday, March
20, 2007 -NEW YORK – The 2007 NAUMD officials announced
that significant progress had been made in achieving the
Association’s Goals and Objectives for the year. The
Strategic Business Plan, announced following the
September Board of Directors Meeting, focused on
building the membership, expanding the horizons of the
organization’s trade show and the creation of value
added educational programming and services for the
membership.
As of this date, 58 New
Members have joined the Association since the beginning
of the year! In addition, the NAUMD 2007 Convention &
Exposition will this year feature 33 New
Exhibitors, a total of 132 booths a 25+% increase
over last year’s 99 booths! The show will also feature
an NAUMD Market-Watch: Hot New Products Display,
featuring the Newest Products!
