The National Association of Uniform Manufacturers

& Distributors (NAUMD) and its Career Apparel Institute (CAI) announced the winners of the “2006 Image of The Year Awards” competition during the “Welcome IOY Opening Breakfast at the Association’s 73rd Annual Convention at  Bally’s Las Vegas, NV.

The Image of The Year Awards competition, was created in 1978 to recognize excellence in business career apparel and also to acknowledge those companies who, with our members assistance, develop these campaigns, is sponsored by The Career Apparel Institute (CAI), a division of the NAUMD.  A panel of independent fashion and industry experts, judge the entries based on a set of criteria including image enhancement, functional design, practicality, use of a color scheme for the environment within which the apparel will be worn, originality of design, brand recognition & projection, and coordination of garments & accessories.  In 2006 the CAI bestowed Twelve Top “Image of the Year” winners and four “Outstanding Achievement” recipients.

“Career Apparel is designed both to compliment the work environment, and enhance the image the company wishes to present to the public.  These company uniforms are created with stylish accents and complimentary colors which blend fashion and function.”  Ilene Rosen, Co-Chair of the NAUMD Career Apparel Committee and member of the NAUMD Board of Directors states,

“The most successful companies work closely with their employees to ensure that all aspects of both the environment within which these garments are to be worn and work product produced by the employees are taken into consideration and are incorporated into the company’s Career Apparel program.  All of this is made possible with Career Apparel that is supplied by uniform industry professionals.”  Stated Ilene Rosen, Co-Chair CAI Committee.

The Career Apparel Institute (CAI) was created over 28 years ago to provide NAUMD members engaged in the design, manufacturing and distribution of image enhancing Career Apparel products and services to American Business! The CAI, and its governing committee, is responsible for the management of the “Image of The Year Awards” Program as well as for the development and delivery of educational seminars, and informational programs for those members of the Association whose business focus includes Career Apparel.

According to NAUMD Executive Director Richard J. Lerman, “ The Image of The Year Awards Program performs a vital function in recognizing high achievement by companies who incorporate the concept of merging fashion and function in their image and market planning. At the same time, it allows for the acknowledgement of our members who work with American Business in the creation of career apparel design which truly makes an impact on their client company’s image to the general public!”

“Career Apparel” is defined as fashionable, functional, and durable clothing designed, manufactured, and distributed by uniform industry professionals which enhances company image, brand awareness and comfort for the employee. The most successful Career Apparel programs project an easily identifiable company employee as a professional, creates a positive corporate image, promotes  brand recognition and enhances employee comfort leading to higher job satisfaction.

NAUMD and its Career Apparel Institute is proud to announce the 2006 Image of the Year winners, and our outstanding achievement winners as presented on the next page. Winning uniform programs are announced during the “Image of the Year” Opening Breakfast & Fashion Show Awards in conjunction with the NAUMD Annual Convention.   E OF THE YEAR WINNERS
